Co-production between South Africa and Italy to be concluded in Cannes 2005
South African producer, Richard Green (Jazz Spirit Productions), will meet with his co-production partners from Italy, Enrico Colletti of Anaada Films and Massimo Vigliar, of Surf Films in Cannes to sign a co-production deal for John Kani's adaptation of Nothing but the truth. The signing ceremony will take place on the South African Pavilion.
Nothing but the truth was funded by the National Film and Video Foundation and is currently in the development phase. According to Green the production phase will commence in September 2005. The film will be shot on location in New Brighton, Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
John Kani will be starring as a lead act in the film and producers are in the early stages of negotiations with the Oscar nominee for Hotel Rwanda, Sophie Okenedo to take one of the roles in the film. The film will be directed by Ross Devenish who has earned credits as a director for A certain justice, A touch of frost and Between the lines.
