Jacky Lourens gained extensive experience in the broadcasting industry when she worked for the SABC for seven years in the communications department. She coordinated the African Mini-Input in collaboration with Sithengi that brought together new films and directors from throughout Africa.
She organized the first ever international public television conference (INPUT2001) that had been held on the African continent. Jacky has facilitated many international film crews to shoot documentaries and magazine programmes in Cape Town.
After studying a post-graduate creative producing course at the Binger Film Institute in Amsterdam, she became the training manager for Project 10, a documentary series focusing on Stories of Freedom, which was supported by the Binger Film Institute, SABC and NFVF.
Jacky is now on contract at Sithengi and holds the position of Festival Manager where she is responsible for the strategic management of operations and events, including the sourcing and programming of films, for the Cape Town World Cinema Festival.
