Shout Africa - A True African Cinema Experience

The majority of our nation has never had an opportunity to make use of accessible and economical cinemas. Furthermore most films shown in South Africa were, and still are, in English. Which precludes a vast number of our population from being able to enjoy going to the movies.

This is all about to change. Thanks to a new company called Shout Africa.

Shout Africa will launch twenty digital cinema's across the country that will give thousands of historically disadvantaged South Africans the chance to enjoy full length feature-films and a true 'cinema experience' in their communities. And more importantly, a number of these films will carry sub-titles in the various vernacular languages depending on the area in which they are being shown.

Furthermore, these cinemas will give local producers the opportunity to reach audiences they have previously been denied by ensuring that local content is shown either alongside, or in some cases instead of, foreign productions.

Darkened cinemas and comfortable chairs, vivid digital images and true surround-sound, local and international stars, popcorn, soft drinks, family and friends. An experience taken for granted by many will be available to everyone - just down the street and at an affordable price.

The locations for these cinemas, community centres or community/school halls, have been chosen to ensure they are easily accessible to the surrounding community. These centres will be revamped and transformed creating an environment that gives the moviegoer a sense of entering a modern and comfortable cinema that could be found anywhere in South Africa or the world.

State of the art digital projectors will be used to screen the movies. The sound system to accompany the images is the latest in design and manufacturing technology, which will deliver a sophisticated and reliable surround sound.

To add to the movie-going experience, a variety of food and beverages will be available for purchase at each venue. In addition to the usual snacks, traditional South African foods, such as pap, wors, samp, mealies and fried chicken will be on sale.

Shout Africa's vision is to take the experience, know-how and technology gathered in setting up Shout Africa in South Africa and apply it to other countries and territories around the continent with similar needs, customs and demographics.

Shout Africa is expected to be enormously successful and, as the name implies, it is a powerful and unifying project that will be seen and heard in all corners of the land and the continent!

But, who is the team behind this pioneering initiave. See Profiles, http://sithengi.co.za/?id=7&pid=506&newscat_id=5 for more on the Shout Africa Management Structure.
