Twelve South African films have been selected for this year’s Lorcarno Film Festival which takes place annually in the City of Locarno, Switzerland.
This year's edition of the festival will take place from 3 - 13 August. The main focus of the event is to showcase experimental films and auteur cinema.
Over the years the festival has promoted the works of young independent directors through a special programme called "Leopards of Tomorrow". The aim of this programme is to discover and explore short films particularly suited to promoting film's various languages, styles, aesthetics, innovation and new techniques.
The Leopards of Tomorrow is divided into various competitive and non-competitive sections one of which is reserved for a single geographical or cultural region, selected as the "field of study". This year's festival focuses on the African continent.
