What is World Cinema?

If this has been a question that you have been asking yourself, then we feel its time it gets answered.

One way of answering the question would be to say that World Cinema are independent films from all over the world that are not mainstream Studio films.  They provide alternative Cinema that is fresh, hip, inclusive and expansive and transcends all cultural & social divides. It is a showcase of dynamic films that demonstrate creativity & artistic flair. It is thought-provoking cinema.

Another way would be to invite you to get a taste of World Cinema for yourself at our upcoming weekly film screenings. To introduce World Cinema to audiences we have partnered with CityVarsity Film School to present weekly film screenings of great world cinema films to tantalise your film taste buds in the build-up to the CTWCF.

The 4th Cape Town World Cinema Festival takes place from 11 - 20 November, incorporating the 10th Anniversary Celebrations of the Sithengi Film & TV Market from 15 - 18 November 2005. The CTWCF is a festival of World Cinema from around the globe and includes independent films from Europe and the US.

The weekly film screenings will take place on Wednesdays at 7pm starting Wednesday, 15 June 2005 at absolutely no charge. All you need to do is invite friends and family to share in this awesome cinematic experience that is World Cinema.
