After the short break we are back with the What is World Cinema? screenings presented by the Cape Town World Cinema Festival in partnership with CityVarsity Film School on Wednesday, 20 July 2005 at 7pm.

"Bandit Queen" (1994) - India

Directed by Shekhar Kapur

"One woman dared to fight back."

Bandit queen Phoolan Devi was sent to prison in 1983 and got free in 1994. During five years she was prosecuted by the Indian police and turned into a legend by the Indian press (like a modern Robin Hood).
