The Cape Town World Cinema Festival (incorporating Sithengi) appoints a new Chairperson
The Chief Executive of the National Film and Video Foundation, Mr. Eddie Mbalo has been appointed as the Chairperson of Cape Town World Cinema Festival (incorporating Sithengi) during a board meeting that took place in Johannesburg on 28 April 2005.

The Three Amigos Increases Presence in South Africa - To be seen on SABC 2 - Web-site launched in Isi-Zulu
May 5, 2005: The Three Amigos, a series of twenty (20) multi-award winning Public Service Announcements (PSA's) designed to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS, have found a new home on SABC 2. Already playing on SABC 1 and 3, the PSA's are now going to be played on SABC 2 in Sotho and Afrikaans. The animated PSA's star three comedic animated characters to deliver a serious message encouraging the principle that condoms are our friends or amigos.

ACT to disburse R 1, 5 million
The Arts and Culture Trust (ACT) invites artists and organisations involved in cultural or heritage work to submit funding applications for projects between 1 September 2005 and 31 August 2006. The deadline for applications is 15 June 2005 at 12:00. No late applications will be considered. The ACT board of Trustees will review the applications received and successful applicants will be announced in August 2005.

May 3, 2005: The Three Amigos, a series of twenty (20) world-class animated Public Service Announcements (PSA's) designed to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS throughout the world, has been awarded the Gold REMI Award and the Silver REMI Award at WORLDFEST, the CINE Special Jury Award and the Telly Award (Bronze).

African Animation Workshop
Animators, Artists, Cartoonists and Scriptwriters are invited to apply for participation in the 5 week Africa Animated 2.0 Training and Production Workshop in Durban between June 18 and July 22, 2005. This UNESCO project is an innovative component of the Durban International Film Festival and is facilitated by the Centre for Creative Arts (University of KwaZulu-Natal).

With 35 established WIFT chapters across the globe, WIFT-SA has recently been founded to inspire, encourage and promote equity for all professional women, students and those aspiring to work in the industry.
